About the track

I made this remix of “Science” for the deadmau5 Skiomusic Song Contest. I wanted to give the original my own vibe without losing the feeling that made the track special to me in the first place. Stevie Appleton’s voice has so much atmosphere and emotion, so I wanted to give it enough space and build the rest of the track around it. The remix starts off calm and emotional, then slowly builds more energy. Warm melodies, driving drums, and synths build the tension until everything opens up in the bigger moments of the track. For me, the remix is really about that space between melancholy and euphoria. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture and turn into something of my own. While working on it, I didn’t want to simply make the track bigger or harder than the original. I wanted to create my own atmosphere and play with contrasts. The quiet moments are allowed to stay quiet, which makes the more energetic parts hit that much harder when they arrive. The vocals kept pulling me in a certain direction throughout the whole process. Because of that, I intentionally kept some parts quite minimal. In other sections, I added more movement and small details so the track keeps evolving and there are still things to discover after listening to it a few times. In the end, it became my own interpretation of “Science.” A remix that respects the emotional core of the original while bringing a lot of my own sound and the way I like to produce into it.
