I somehow ended up back where it all began. By the coast!
I grew up in a small village right on the Baltic Sea. The sea was always there, along with the wind moving through the pine forests and reed fields. And then there was this particular mix of wide open space, quiet, and weather that could get pretty rough at times. I think those sounds and moods shaped me from an early age. Maybe they also shaped the way I experience music.
Music came into my life pretty early too. At some point, my older brother bought one of the first versions of Cubase. I still remember how fascinating it was to me that you could suddenly build music with a computer. Change sounds, layer things, try something, throw it away and start again. It felt completely different from the dark, dusty and almost intimidating piano sitting in our living room.
Ever since then, making and producing music has never really left me. Sometimes it was a huge part of my life, sometimes it faded into the background for a while. That's just how it goes. Life has a habit of making other plans every now and then.
Since moving back to Rostock, and with it back to the coast, I've become very aware of how much I want to make more time for music again. Time to write and compose, but just as much time to experiment, learn, and fail spectacularly at ideas that sounded brilliant the night before. I really do have a soft spot for my pile of shame made up of unfinished 8-bar loops.
What fascinates me more and more these days is just how deep music production goes. A song can be completely written, and yet that's often where another journey begins. Sound design, space, dynamics, textures, tiny details, and all those decisions you might never consciously hear in the finished track, but somehow still feel.
This website is a place for exactly that journey. For finished music, unfinished ideas, experiments, and everything that happens along the way.
And probably for the occasional night when "I'll just try one more thing" somehow turns into three in the morning.
